You are NOT to blame...
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

Jenna, what your molesting father did to you and your sister was not your fault. It wasn't your sister's fault either. The fault lies solely with your sex offending father. The fact that your grandmother turned a blind ear to you makes her an enabler. She needs to answer for that.

And don't ever blame yourself for not telling. You didn't tell because you were afraid. You didn't tell because you thought you wouldn't be believed; and THAT fear actually came to pass with your grandmother. The feelings of abandonment and betrayal must have been overwhelming. I can only hope you are now in a safe place and that your father is in prison, where he belongs.

Jenna, I refer you to my sex offenders page on this site. There, you will find two tables with Words from Sex Offenders; you'll find what your father said to you and your sister is typical behaviour from molesters. Perhaps understanding this will help you to lessen the burden of guilt you carry; you have nothing to feel guilty or ashamed of.

I also recommend some form of counselling. A counsellor can help you deal with the emotions you must be feeling. You're worth that kind of help, dear.

Hope for you
by: Linda

Jenna, Your sister is a brave girl for telling on your father. You can't call a man like that "Father". I have a few choice names for him. Names like: CHILD MOLESTER, SEXUAL PREDATOR, CHILD ABUSER,and LOWDOWN PIG. Your mother and grandmother are no better than him. Separate yourself from these selfish people, like I did to my abusers. What those people did to you and your sister is hideous and they need to be punished severely! You and your sister are in my prayers. Thank you for telling us your story. That was a step in the right direction for you........Good luck, Jenna
