You do not need to be in a relationship to be valuable. You do not need to be in a relationship in order to have purpose. Being in a relationship, a healthy relationship, takes a lot more than needing someone to make us feel better about ourselves. You're self-esteem has taken a terrible hit, Jasmine. First and foremost, you must understand that you are worthy of dignity and respect, and then you must treat YOURSELF with dignity and respect. Instead on focusing on a relationship that you right now believe will take you away from your troubles (which it very likely won't; it's far more likely that it will cause you more troubles), concentrate on building your self-worth and self-esteem. Ge involved in activities that interest you. Understand how important an education is. And contact Child Help at 1-800-4-A-CHILD (1-800-422-4453) in order to talk to someone. They are staffed 24/7 with professionally trained counsellors who will listen to you. They are not a reporting agency.
