Child Abuse and How to Understand the Abuser

by Maurice

Nothing condones what child abusers have done or will do. They are very weak and sick people, and in most cases just want to be abusers. All know the power in abusing another is wrong. But won't stop. I know many who have abused, religious men and women and many family members. All sweet in their own way, as if butter would not melt in their mouth's; devious out and out. In a number of cases they were abused too. This does not excuse them doing what they have done or do. The ones I respect are the ones who admit their wrong-doing and are very remorseful. The ones who still see no wrong and are in denial are the ones I have no respect for. Being of the Christian faith, that makes it very hard for me: to love one another as I have loved you.

Abuse takes many forms and today's society is full of it, lest we forget while dwelling on the past abuse in families and institutions. Teenagers are abusing each other daily by having sexual intercourse, not respecting the other. Hidden abuses of the individual who use males/females for exploitation in the sex world/pornography. How to understand the abuser and still remain silent about modern day abuse is my question.

If I haven't left you a comment or one that is in-depth, please do not take my lack of a personal response as a slight, or as a statement that your story is somehow unworthy of my time. Nothing, and I do mean nothing, could be further from the truth. If there was a way for me to respond to all of you at length, I would.

Some good points...
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

I understand only too well how difficult it is to reconcile religious beliefs to the world of abuse and child abusers.

Maurice, you'll note I've edited your post. I did not do so without a great deal of thought beforehand. Even though it may not have been your intent to spur on a debate about abortion, after careful consideration, I decided that I could not allow my site to become a place where my visitors argue whether or not a woman has the right to this decision. I do hope you understand my position on this.

I do hope you will continue to be a valuable contributor to my site, Maurice. Your supportive and encouraging comments to other contributors has been tremendous. Did you know that you will not receive automated notifications for ALL new stories posted on this site? There is a programming glitch that I cannot do anything about that drops a great deal of new posts from the automated system (usually somewhere between half to two-thirds, in fact). If you're interested in commenting on more of the stories (and by no means are you obligated to do so), the best way to stay on top of the new ones is to bookmark my Child Abuse Blog page, and then check it daily. All new postings appear through that page, along with the date of posting.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about child abuse with my visitors and me.
