To Sharon:

Self-centeredness is often at the core of parents who abuse. They themselves never grew up, or grew up so twisted, they do to their children what was done to them. Children themselves, really. Of course, that's not an excuse. Plenty of parents who come from some type of adversity/abuse don't go on to abuse their own kids.

Here's the thing...if the abuse or harassment continues, there is no way to have a relationship. The foundation isn't there. So the fact that you've pretty much walked away from your mother is probably a healthy thing. I'm very happy to learn that you have a partner who has your back. We all need that kind of support in our lives.

Thank you for sharing your story with us here. And as always, I send you loving healing energy, Sharon.
