Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me. Being victimized with physical abuse leaves deep scars, but witnessing abuse leaves the very deepest scars, because the child grows up feeling helpless, hopeless and worthless for exactly the reasons you stated. But you are not worthless. Not even close. Your father was twisted and cruel in his thinking and actions. And your mother was an enabler. As for healing and recovery, trust in the process, but trust in YOURSELF and in Who You Really Are must come first.

A willing enabler for a mother...and a vicious beater for a father
by: Anonymous

James, what your so-called parents did to you and your brother is very pathetic and ungrateful. Please stay in counselling. Be brave, James, and stay strong.

James, please, oh please take Darlene's loving, encourageing words to your straight from her heart to you. Her words made great sense to me too. Most of us experience what you did. feeling helpless and hopeless even when we were being abused. Children/teenagers are the innocent and vunerable victims in aabuse. I remember when I was 15 years old a few of us tried to tell our beater that what he was doing was wrong. My bottom still knows the reply he gave me. I received a sever spanking on that night. James once your brother knew you wanted to safeguard him that was all that matterer. He knew you were there for him but could not challege the brute of your Father and Mother his enabler. When mothers are helpless in most abuse cases in the home. The abnormal man of the human species abused them too. James,,, great you shared your very true and real story here on Darlene's site. Her comment to you is truly worth taking ownership of it and act on her words. She certainly put your helplessness in perspective. It wrang and will wring a bell with all her visitors. She speaks from the heart and speaks the truth. Believe in her words and the truth will set you free. Start today having a healthy mind in a healthy body, become active and alife by taking part in sporting and cultural activities in school/college or where you live. Your life will take on another meaning if you do. Stay strong, stay safe, Always believe in yourself.
