Effects of childhood sexual abuse...
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

Hendrix, you are not alone in your suffering. What you describe as the effects of your childhood abuse many child abuse survivors can and do relate to. I am so sorry to learn that Maldives does not take child abuse seriously enough to provide services and resources that you would find helpful. I can only hope that attitudes will change.

You asked: "... why I was behaving like that?" referring to inappropriate sexual behaviour as a child. Hendrix, when a child is sexually abused, it is very common for that child to exhibit sexualized behaviour. It's a child abuse effect, and a red flag that sexual abuse has taken place. Please read through my sexual abuse effects page on this site for more information about this. I think you'll find much of what you've experienced listed on that page.

If counselling truly isn't available to you, I sincerely hope you find some measure of support through this website.
