The Lighter Side of Basketball

The feeling on textured rubber sliding against my fingertips, hearing it bouncing against pavement with a dull thud, and then leaving my hands in a smooth arc only to swish through a net, might be the best way to relax me. Basketball is calming for stress, anger, panic. Everything else just goes away.

To find relaxation in the texture of ball itself as much as the rudimentary process of the game is truly enjoying all aspects of the experience. You've melded your Self to the full experience using all your senses...lovely. Thank you for sharing how you relax and de-stress with my visitors and me.

Your post makes me reflect on a time my nephew and I was having a game of basketball and it began to rain. I enjoy playing basketball but not watching the game. I like playing without rules, it's too crazy. I dont want rules but if I'm playing my nephew who is so much better and taller than I, he has to follow the rules of the game. This particular day we were playing and it started to rain. We wanted to finish it and we did, in the rain. It was so much fun. I laughed and laughed as the ball kept slipping away from me. Sometimes I have went to the court and played basketball with kids, full court. I laughed so hard running up and down the court I could barely catch my breath...I enjoy playing basketball. It is a great stress reliever, especially if I can play without rules.(smile)
