Reporting Child Abuse – Police Not Listening

by Sharai R
(Dallas, Texas, USA)

Have tried 3 times to accuse my offender and nobody listens to my plea please i feel helpless why won't anybody listen to me i currently reside in dallas tx but my abuser lives in montgomery tx and it all started in florida so i decided to speak up one day and i called florida police department and they said i had to make the abuse report in dallas where i lived so i called dallas police department and they said since the abuser lives in montgomery to call conroe police department so i did and they opened up a case and without me knowing anything they closed it.

In Canada, one would make the report in the jurisdiction in which the offense occurred, but even still, if the officer in the police department did not know how to handle historical reports, the run around could still happen as it has in your case. I cannot speak for the US system. I suggest you go above the police department. Contact your local state representative or congressman and tell that person what you've been up against. You should be able to get some action that way. Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me.
