Learning to Play the Violin

by Name Undisclosed
(Location Undisclosed)

I am currently trying to teach myself how to play the violin. When every I am having a down-and-out sort of day where all that is on my mind is him I pick it up, open a couple of web sites and try and conquer more of how to play the violin and how to do it right.

If I haven't left you a comment or one that is in-depth, please do not take my lack of a personal response as a slight, or as a statement that your story is somehow unworthy of my time. Nothing, and I do mean nothing, could be further from the truth. If there was a way for me to respond to all of you at length, I would.

The violin as a de-stressor...
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

Learning to play a musical instrument can be so relaxing. The fact that you are teaching yourself to play through the Internet is nothing short of amazing! Thank you for sharing how you pick up a "down-and-out sort of day" with my visitors and me.

P.S. If you would like to replace the photo I've included above, by all means, send me one through another submission...I'll be happy to make the substitution.

I learned to play as well.
by: Scott Canada

I also learned to play an instrument.I learned guitar. It took a long time.Years really...I'm still learning.slow learner I guess haha. But that was the point really. To make time stop somehow and to focus on something other than the images and memories in my head.I have since learned piano,Harmonica and do much recording.I love it.Still after all these years I still love it. I like when people tell me that I don't know how good I really am.Way back when I began this odyssey,I was doing it to take my mind off of my abuse and mental suffering.I would go soo deep into it that I could block out all outside distractions.I would lose track of time and get lost in it.....and learn too. Learning an instrument is a great feeling ,especially when teaching oneself as I did.I only had books. Of course I also had my father telling me that I would never learn to play and will amount to nothing. My uncle at the time commented that even Beethoven learned to play and he was deaf.Maybe I did it to prove him wrong.Congratulations and good luck......don't give up. You know the thing is I have always wanted to learn the violin. Who knows, maybe I will try that next.
