I Have a Tea Party

by Nancy
(Ohio, USA)

A Tea Party

A Tea Party

I have my own tea party with a little brown porcelain pot filled with tea, and fancy cookies. Then I sit in a quiet spot and read one of my comfort books. There are some books I've read over and over because they make me feel good: 'Jane Eyre', 'Pride and Prejudice', 'The Count of Monte Cristo', etc. I find books comforting. I read new ones too, but the ones I used to go hide away in the woods near where I grew up and read are the ones that I have to have at times to make me feel better.

Quality time
by: Darlene Barriere

Nancy, what a fantastic way to give yourself some quality "alone" time. Books are imagination doorways; it's no wonder you find them comforting.

P.S. Hope you don't mind that I included a couple of images. If you find something more appropriate, by all means, send it to me using the submission form on The Lighter Side page.

Tea parties and woodland dreams
by: Cathy (U. S. A.)

Dear Nancy:

Thank you for your post. It'll help all of us. Jane Eyre is one of my favorite books of all times and, a few years ago, I also purchased the DVD. I also like the book, Wuthering Heights. Your lovely tea parties sound wonderful. There are so many child-abuse survivors who are extremely talented and intelligent, and I truly believe these are two of the reasons why victims are targeted for abuse; plain jealousy on the part of people in their lives. Henry David Thoreau, a great man of the written word, built a log cabin in the woods and lived there all by his lonesome for a couple of years while logging daily happenings in his journal. He truly loved wildlife and nature more than people. Most people thought he was rather arrogant when, in fact, he was just doggone truthful.
