Child Abusers Need to be Severly Punished

by Liv
(San Francisco, California, USA)

We as a community need to get tougher laws in place to give these child abusers their due punishment. Let's start a petition now to get laws changed to reflect a mandatory prison sentence for these perpetrators across the nation. Minimum of life in prison. Period.

While I agree that more stringent sentences need to be doled out to convicted child abusers, the problem is far more complicated than simply demanding stiffer prison terms. If we as a society don't address the causes of child abuse, the problem will not only continue, it will magnify exponentially; and then we won't have enough prisons to house all the abusers, let alone other criminals. The approach can't only be punitive, it must be preventative. I sincerely hope you and others like you rally for change in our world, because that's what it will take for real change to take place, change that will eventually lead to children being respected and given the rights they deserve. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this pervasive issue with my visitors and me.
