Child Abuse - Posting Research Links

For Darlene: I watch quite a few sites and one site has various forums. One of the forums is a research forum and I recently noticed that there was a call for victims/survivors of trafficiking to testify to the American Congress. I was wondering if you could perhaps find a way to post these types of links? You seem to be the most comprehensive site out there that is monitored and it would be interesting if people who know your site could perhaps contribute to the research that is taking place.

Thank you for sharing this information. I've decided to post it because there is no other way for me to provide a reply given this system. If I don't post it, it's lost.

By the time I learned of this research being conducted by the Dept of Justice in the US, the site was no longer accepting Statements of Interest by survivors of human trafficking. As they were looking for only 15 - 20 survivors, it's no surprise that they received so many applications that they stopped accepting them early on in the process.

I do try to stay up-to-date with such information, but sometimes the timeliness isn't the best, as is the case with this partiular DOJ request. When this happens, I don't post because to do so would be pointless for my visitors to apply. And in this situation, they are dealing with ALL forms of human trafficking, not just child abuse.

Also, the search engines punish sites that duplicate content already on the Internet. It's one thing to appear on a forum, but quite another to be duplicated on websites. I've been lowered in the rankings in the past as a result of inadvertently posting content that is elsewhere on the Net. So unless the information is provided in a way that duplication is avoided, my site is at risk of not being found with the search engines. It's all very complicated. As you know, I do invite others to post to this site, but again, if the content is duplicated, it's a problem.

Below is a brief summary of the upcoming DOJ's Human Trafficking Survivor Forum:

The Human Trafficking Survivor 1-Day Forum is scheduled for January 30, 2014, in Washington, D.C. The intent is to create a dialogue between survivors and USA Federal Government anti-human trafficking efforts, and develop strategic and meaningful initiatives while maintaining a victim-centered approach. For additional information, try e-mailing humantrafficking@ovcttac.org or call 1–866–682–8880.

Thank you for your continued support of this site, My Two Cents.
