Why did it happen to me?
I was just a little kid.
Trying to survive in this big world.
I tried to make it stop.
Why wouldn't it stop?
I didn't do anything wrong

Tami, if you are being abused, please contact Child Help at 1-800-4-A-CHILD (1-800-422-4453) in order to talk to someone about what you are dealing with. They are staffed 24/7 with professionally trained counsellors who will listen to you. They are not a reporting agency, although they can help you through the process of reporting if you decide to disclose abuse. Why, Oh Why indeed did it happen to me.

What a powerful and real question you have so expertedily put in peom form. I guess slowly but very surely many of our counsellors and therapists are giving us answers to this real Question. Great I (we) have the courage to ask the question, We are questioning in the majority of abuse perpetrators Adults who are inadequate in being true human beings, are dysfunctional in one form or another. are and in most cases near and dear close relative's or family members. older siblings one's that we expect to be more loving, chersihing, nuturing of us as children. innocent and vunerable. Through acknowledgeing that we were abused we have ansered the question for ourselves that our abuser were abused themselves without acknowledgeing it. continued abusing because they knew no better. We who know we were abused will never completely forgive or forget the horrificness of pain, hurt, marks/scars indelible in many may never be erased. But gifted one, your poem is short I ask you is it a cry for help? if so please seek it NOW don't wait. Darlene's words as always gives you steeping stones to walk towards that help. I know behind that poem is a real human person. with flesh and bones. and all the feelings which govern our day to day living life to the full or not. I am certain, you have one or two very close people in your life who know you and your pain from being abused. your poem ask's why me ? begin to get the answer for YOU. You are gifted, you put that gift through your Poem to Darlene and her visitors. Be brave, be strong for you with the help of counsellors/therapists and you trusted of friends and get help. Then you will find the answer for yoursefl. Always believe in yourself wonderful and beautiful gentle, sensitive, caring, kind, human being.
