Child Abuse - My Son and His Survival

My child was sexually abused 7 yrs ago. i want to tell you the affect that it has had in our (his family's life) My son just disclosed that he was sexually abused by a friend when he was 8 and the boy was 11. My son for the last 7 yrs has been thru so much by not telling.When he finally told he was so relieved. We (as the parents) believer him and went to the authorities, got our son help (he was in in patient therapy for 10 days then 10 days out patient therapy). We do not believe that the child who is of age now will be convicted. But i want to say if you or anyone is abused in any way and do not tell it can affect everybody around you. My son was inflicting pain on himself he would get angry at his siblings school work was affected and more. my son is on the mends now he will survive. i just pray that any child who is being abused will tell because it affects his or her life and others around them. it has only been a short time since he told but the difference in him is amazing.
