From Darlene - Webmaster: Anon, and my other visitors to this thread, I've deleted the comment from this particular commenter because her numerous, oftentimes multiple, posts are inappropriate, and she refuses to stop posting here on this site. This is all I can do to keep you informed, as I cannot block her.

personal stories
by: My Two Cents

For the original poster: I completely understand your reculance to post intimate, personal details about what happened to you.

I'm sure that there are some people who do read stories in order to get off.

I do think Darlene does a good job of balancing the facts and the intimate details. I don't remember seeing anything in here that read like a letter to Penthouse or erotica for example. I actually remember Darlene toning down one story and explaining that she had done so in her comment to the poster. I think she wrote words to the effect that some details were more appropriate for a letter to Penthouse (or maybe it was PlayBoy).

I would like to tell you how I use the stories in here. I have my bachelor's of social work and I'm employed in the field of disabilities. I have been tossing the idea of returning to school for my masters in social work degree but I don't have the grades right now so I am taking some financial planning courses to bring my grades up and then maybe I can get into the masters social work program.

Being as I am not employed in the child welfare field, I read (and sometimes comment) on the stories in here to get a sense of what it looks like now. You see, when I was growing up, we had "sexual harassment" and "verbal abuse" for example but it wasn't labelled or recognized as "abusive" til the early 90's and then it progressed from there.

The people who post stories in here, they allow me a glimpse into what their abuse looked like, what the effects on them are, and they also give me a general idea of what kind of help they might need. I do find that helpful and insightful. The stories in here are more "real", more "alive" than the composite stories that show up in some academic textbooks.

I do appreciate that insight. I appreciate your concern as well. I hope I've set your mind somewhat at ease, in that you know how I use the information here. I can't speak for everyone but this site is a huge resource for nurses, social workers, doctors, teachers, educational assistants, daycare staff, students, etc.

Be well.

My Two Cents.

Yes some of the pervs that read these do masturbate to them. Alot of them were also abused children. It is known fact those who abuse children were more than likely abused themselves thus carring on the ( family ) tradition.
