Child Abuse Commentary by Paul

Was on another web site but got the distinct feeling it was geared toward women I had posted for several days off and on there. I feel like I am not being heard there I noticed on this site that men here are getting a better response

Thanks
Paul

I respond to each and every story posted on this site, male and female, though it can take some time for me to put a person's story live on my site. However, all comments are voluntary from various visitors that come and go. I am the sole webmaster/administrator which means that oftentimes only one comment will show up on a thread--each story or commentary is its own thread. I can no more force someone to comment than I can make someone breathe. Sometimes a person simply doesn't know what to write, so they don't. Most people who comment here do so because they are compelled in some way to do so. I encourage supportive comments, but I do not permit comments that are non-supportive or judgmental. Those type of comments are deleted before ever seeing the light of day. No comment goes live before being read and approved by me first. I've had contributors in the past accuse me of the same thing you've mentioned about other websites, but I can only do what I do. Males tend not to leave comments, though some do. But also understand that these threads are not intended to be an ongoing support for people having problems. I get new stories every day and try to post them each day, though that's not always possible. So if you do share your story here, understand the limitations of visitors, as well as the programming used for the module that allows me to accept peoples' stories. Thank you for sharing here today with my visitors and me. I send you love, light and healing energy, Paul.

male survivor website
by: My Two Cents

Hi, Paul,

I thought I'd mention that there is a forum on the web dedicated entirely to males. If you google for:

Male survivor, sexual abuse

Or

Male survivor, the ms discussion board

It will show up. "ms" refers to "male survivor."

It is fairly extensive and there is the option of receiving online peer support if this is something you're interested in.

One caveat..."online peer support" has always seemed a little worrying to me. You don't know who you're talking to, if that individual is really a fellow victim/survivor or a real life professional, or just someone who wants to hear gory details for some reason. All that said, if you can't afford a therapist in real life, or you're in a remote area without services, this can be an option.

Be well.

My Two Cents.
