My Father Served

Hi Darlene: I have just turned 18 and about to join the army. Anything to get away from home, and while that is one reason, it is not the only reason I'm joining the army. My father served. He is no longer here. God I wish he was. He was killed 7 years ago and I miss him so much. I still get sick some mornings. I also get hit when I'm sick, by my stepdad. Used to be just a slap but it then became punches. All because I got sick because I missed my father. He was my father now and I should just forget about my real father. I am angry but I think that might help me to get through training.
