I commend you
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

Sheree, I commend you for wanting to get involved in order to help children who have been abused. Australia has definitely been in the news over the last year or so with the epidemic that is child abuse, so I'm not surprised to learn that you are reading and hearing so much about subject.

Check out the comments I left for Sara on this site at Interested in helping for some suggestions. Like I told Sara, you don't have to work directly with abused children in order to make a difference. Understanding all you can about child abuse makes a difference when you apply it to your every day life, because you never know when you'll be called upon to help a friend or a neighbour child who you suspect is being abused. And when you decide to have a family of your own, you will be better able to incorporate appropriate discipline rather than falling into abusive patterns.

Knowledge is power, Sheree. When you have knowledge, you can make better choices. When you have knowledge and you open your mind, you can look for opportunities and opportunities look for you.

Again, I applaud the fact that you want to get involved. I said this before and I'll say it again, the world needs more young people like you!
