The system is broken, as you already know. The laws are different in different countries. But even in countries where children actually have rights, the courts frequently award custody to the abusive parent. It's even worse when the judge is corrupt or biased one way or the other.

I know you're desperate to keep your children safe. But in truth, I can't give you what you're looking for. I can only say that you must be a strong support for your children going forward. I would also check into the judge to find out if there is anything about his/her judgments that could be used toward some kind of new hearing. Perhaps also involving the media.
