I know you submitted your article quite some time ago. I've been dealing with eye issues that have made reading online a major problem. My apologies for taking so long to post.

The issue of spanking is a very complicated one, one that's ingrained, possibly even rooted, in religious beliefs. There is no shortage of research that shows how damaging spanking is to children, including lower developmental scores in children at age 3 when spanking has been used for discipline.

When it comes to religion, very few would set aside their beliefs and abide by laws that prohibit what they deem as their "parental right" to chastise. Indeed, so-called religious freedom laws in the United States could be used to waive such a law for those imposing such discipline on their children.

Education is key. But as long a people refuse to accept the research, there is no changing their mind.
