It's not too late to report...
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

Depending on how you look at this, it might not be too late at all. It is quite possible (but not necessarily so) that your perverted uncles will not be able to be prosecuted for the crimes they committed against you; however, report what they did to you anyway. When you make a report, it stays on record. If they are abusing other children (and they probably are, since sex offenders do not generally stop their molesting ways) your report could help those children in the future. A report from you could show a pattern of behaviour.

For the sake of your own well-being, I urge you to get some form of counselling. One alternative is to contact Child Help at 1-800-4-A-CHILD (1-800-422-4453) in order to talk to someone about the abuse you were forced to endure. They are staffed 24/7 with professionally trained counsellors who will listen to you. They are not a reporting agency, although they can help you through the process of reporting if you decide to disclose the abuse. And I hope you do decide to disclose.

Thank you for writing your story and for sending your all-important message along with it: to report abuse when it happens. Just don't for one second keep believing that it's too late for you.

I'M SO SORRY
by: Anonymous

I'M SO SORRY THAT SOMETHING HORRIBLE HAPPENED TO YOU. WE CANNOT ERASE THE PAST, BUT WE CAN USE IT TO BETTER OURSELVES. IT IS KIND OF DIFFICULT, BUT THE EVENT ALREADY PASSED. THE SCAR IS THERE, BUT YOU CAN BE THE BEST IN YOUR LIFE AND IN THE LIFE OF OTHERS. FOCUS IN THE STARS. BE ONE OF THEM. SHINING IN THE NIGHT. THE DARKNESS CANNOT STOP THE STAR THAT SHINE, AND WILL NEVER DO. I WOULD LIKE TO BECOME YOUR FRIEND.
