There is no guarantee that getting him charged with child sexual abuse will end up with a conviction and then justice. That's important to understand. I'm not saying that justice shouldn't be pursued, rather, I'm warning against the possibility that he won't be convicted. That doesn't mean you daughters are being called liars or that the abuse didn't happen, it just means there isn't enough evidence. As far as I know, North Carolina does not have a statute of limitations of child sexual abuse. But it will be up to your daughters to make a report to the local authorities. But they need a lot of help dealing with all the repercussions of what they endured. They really do need to seek out some form of counselling or therapy. And that counselling will be even more important if they decide to take this pedophile to court. You also need help, Shirl. Check out what type of resources are available to you and your daughters through your local women's shelter or crisis center. Always remember that things are never "hopeless". Thank you for sharing yours and your daughters' story with my visitors and me. I send you all love, light and healing energy.
