I suggest you contact one of the hotlines listed on my stories page, depending on where you live, in order to talk to someone confidentially about what's happening to you with your mother. Perhaps they can help you get some help. Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me.

The sooner, the better...Darlene is right!
by: Anonymous

Sarah, what your mother is doing to you is really pathetic and ungrateful. I can relate; in fact, my mom used to do that to me as well. Your mother is truly twisted and sick in her own ways of thinking. She should've known better and loved and cherished you. She needs help, but you need help too, so the sooner you tell someone, the better. Darlene is right! Please tell someone you really trust, other than your aunt that informed you about your mother's twisted behavior.

thanks

Actually I'm an adult but thanks. It is probably the hardest part of my story to share - one that feels too bizarre - and it helps to know I'm not the only one. It's taken me a really long time to deal with things.

Even more screwy- I once tried when I was in college to tell my dad about stuff. He told my mom what I'd said, and when she got upset, told me to buy her a present to help her feel better. He just told me that my mom is not a monster and if I have any problems with her to let him know and he'll take care of it. Yeah... a little too late! I'm thankful for everyone around me who has shown me real love, but it still feels like an empty hole inside- it's almost like, I need to someday get to the point I can tell someone in my everyday life- not just therapists who are paid to be sympathetic- the story and not feel ashamed.
