Betrayal...
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

Rachael, I am so sorry people didn't believe you. To tell was such a courageous act.

Your mother certainly let you down. A mother's first and foremost job is to protect her children and keep them safe from harm. Your mother failed on that count. And if that wasn't bad enough, she was actually trading you for cash and appliances. Then to work to make sure your molester never saw the inside of a prison wall, she again chose him over her precious daughter. What she did for all those years was the ultimate form of betrayal and abandonment. She was an enabler, which makes her every bit as guilty as the men who sexually offended you.

I do hope you find the peace you are looking for through the court system, Rachael. And I do hope you are in some form of counselling to help you through all this. I understand there are victim and witness services available to you through your system; use those resources if they are there for you.

Before I sign off, allow me to congratulate you on passing those exams. Fantastic achievement!
