What seems to be preventing you from opening up about what happened is shame and guilt. Shame and guilt you have no reason to carry. You used the words laid there, as though you could have done something different to change the fact that this babysitter had all the power and control. He manipulated a very young and vulnerable little girl. This wasn't your fault. He was—IS— a pedophile. He sought out situations so that he could sexually abuse little girls. You were one of his victims. And it's very likely there were others. Don't be afraid to share what happened with the people you really trust. Understand that the power this babysitter had over you is no longer there. He cannot hurt you anymore, except in your thoughts. The fear he instilled in you he did to protect himself. Take back your power and talk about it to your counsellor. You took the first step by opening up here; and that's a very brave step. Now it's time to take the next one...do it for your Self. You deserve that. I send you love, light and healing energy. Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me.

I can relate...

I'm so very sorry you had to experience that. I too was sexually abused. People say the same thing to me, why I can't just be happy. It's the hardest form of abuse to deal with. You're grieving your innocence being stolen, is what the process of coping feels like to me. I'm proud of you for sharing that story. Along with the guilt and shame that comes along with it, society has a stigma it seems against the molested. It's hard to talk about, but essential, and healing. I pray you will be on the right path of healing, security and peace.
