TALK to somene and TELL...
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

No matter how busy your mother is, you must be a priority in her life. Please talk to her about what has happened to you. And if that's not possible, contact Child Help at 1-800-4-A-CHILD (1-800-422-4453) in order to talk to someone about what you've had to deal with. They are staffed 24/7 with professionally trained counsellors who will listen to you. They are not a reporting agency, although they can help you through the process of reporting if you decide to disclose. You can visit their website by copying & pasting the following URL into your browser: http://www.childhelp.org/get_help

Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me.

Learned self-helplessness
by: Daphne

Hi. Maybe I can shed some light on what happened at that dance with that boy. You have learned that you are helpless; you got scared and just went along with whatever he wanted so that he wouldn't hurt you. He probably didn't realize that you weren't interested in him until you wouldn't kiss him back, so he got up and left.

You feel like you are just an object and that's because you have been objectified and abused by 2 men (father figures!!!!). You have also been abused by a woman too.

You must be a very beautiful woman who has developed early, but that is NOT an excuse!!!! No one should EVER touch you like that EVER! You were only a helpless child! Just because you are a pretty girl, doesn't mean that you deserve to be treated this way! You didn't ask for it and you didn't deserve it!

You have now learned from past experience that when a man wants something sexual, you give it to him. You lay there and pretend you are somewhere else. Take this learned helplessness and throw it away! Go and get your power back! You are worth it.

Your mother needs to know that she's also hurting you by not being there for you. Tell her what has happened to you. She is also abusing you by neglecting you as her daughter. Neglect is a form of abuse too. It causes you to feel unloved and unwanted.

Well I love you b/c you came here and shared your story.
