I hear your desperation...
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

Megan, I can understand your fear and why you want to run away, but running away will not solve anything for you. Indeed, it may cause you more trouble and result in you going to a place that is even more dangerous than living with your parents.

You'll note I moved what you wrote to a page of its own, rather than leave them in the comments section of your first story. I've done this in an effort to give your situation more exposure.

I don't know if there is an appeals process that you can go through or if there are agencies that can help. Though I can't help you in any direct way, perhaps one of my visitors who is in a better position to give you some options will read what you have written and respond.

Hang in there, Megan. The court ruled "within a year" so a lot can happen between now and then. And just for the record, you are NOT a hopeless case. Don't ever lose hope. You don't know yet what will come of the ruling or what will come of the situation over time. Even though what ultimately happens may not be what you want, try to stay positive, as difficult as that is for you right now.

A Social Worker's Advice
by: Anonymous

Megan you should make your wishes known to your social worker. Write a letter to the judge handling your case expressing your feelings. Be persistent in telling those in charge of your case what you want. Tell them about responsible family members that you may be able to stay with or friends that you may be able to stay with.

Good luck
by: Kathie

My granddaughter is now in the "system" for alleged child neglect. Someone called and said her parents were doing meth around her (they weren't) so I took temporary custody of my granddaughter. When they finally ordered the test 6 wks later (saying they could get a 6 mo record if abusing drugs) and all their hair stats came back negative yet they felt the need to CHINA (child in need of assistance) this child. I feel the CPS searches for easy cases that they fabricate (or pick and chose comments) while it lets children like you (who really need help) slip through the cracks. My thoughts and prayers are with you - keep reporting and make someone take responsibility for your safety. Don't hide the truth.
