He told you LIES...he projected HIS failures onto you...
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

I don't think you realize how strong you are, or how smart and articulate you are. Your father was twisted in his thinking, and your mother enabled his abuse, which makes her just as responsible for that abuse as he was. Don't keep believing the lies he (they) fed you. Those lies were about their own insecurities, their own failures. You my dear Marie were perfect as you were—ARE. Keep telling yourself that whenever those lies come back to haunt you. And only YOU can stop yourself from becoming a doctor now, if you really want to become a doctor.

Thank you for sharing more of your story with my visitors and me. I'll post Part 3 tomorrow.

Your parents are out of control
by: Anonymous

Marie, your father is wrong. You are not stupid; you are very smart, articulate and worthy of love, dignity and outright respect, all of which you were rudely denied of. Your parents had (and might still have) lots of problems and they need help...but you need help, too. Family therapy is a good idea, and so is counselling and therapy. Be brave, Marie, and stay strong.
