Robbed of your childhood and innocence
by: Darlene Barriere

You were forced into being a "companion" for your grandmother and a "wife" for your uncle—he sexually assaulted you—instead of being a child. You should have been playing and carefree. You should have had people around you who protected and nurtured you. Maria, you were betrayed by all the adults in your life. I hope that you had some happiness and loving care while you were in a foster home. And I hope that you are now getting some form of counselling in order to help you deal with the emotions that must be prevalent in your life today. You are worth it.
