You are the exception
by: Darlene Barriere - webmaster

I'm delighted to learn that everything is okay with you, Kari. I'm also delighted to learn that your molester is in prison and that your stepdad has gotten help for his alcohol problem. You deserve to be treated well and with dignity and respect.

Kari, sexual assault victims—especially when they were assaulted as children or youth—often experience a re-living of the molestations in later years. They can find themselves dealing with intimacy problems and the residual emotional trauma when they enter sexual relationships, such as that of marriage. If this occurs, counselling sessions may be helpful. While victims who have had the opportunity to testify against their assaulters often report undergoing a catharsis, particularly when their offender is convicted for their crimes, they also convey the need for therapy.

And Kari, due to liability laws, I have removed the reference to your abusers last name. I replaced it with an initial. I thank you in advance for your understanding.
