Writing can be so cathartic...

Jessica, it sounds as though you have broken the cycle of abuse with your own children. Congratulations on that achievement! Many would not have come through such horrendous abuse having learned NOT to be abusers themselves.

I can tell there is so much you have not disclosed. And while you want to write your story for the benefit of others—a commendable goal—the best way to go about this is to get help for yourself first. Counselling is a very good place to start. And keep writing; it is very therapeutic.
