You really need to talk to someone...
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

Jessica, the choices you're making for yourself are directly tied into what has happened to you in your childhood. But you can turn that around, with the right kind of help. No one gets through this stuff without help from someone. Look into all the resources available to you. If you are still in school, consider a trusted teacher or counsellor. If you still live in an abusive environment with your parents, consider contacting Child Help at 1-800-4-A-CHILD (1-800-422-4453) in order to talk to someone about the abuse you are still dealing with. They are staffed 24/7 with professionally trained counsellors who will listen to you. They are not a reporting agency, although they can help you through the process of reporting if you decide to disclose the abuse. Another possible contact is a women's shelter. They can provide you with some much-needed resources. You're worth that kind of help, Jessica. You deserve to be treated with dignity and respect; but you must start by treating YOURSELF with dignity and respect. You really are worthy of that.

Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me.

Don't pretend
by: Linda

Jessica, you had a mixed-up sister, who sexually abused you, a crazy dad, and a scared mother. Pretending you had a normal childhood in front of other people won't help you heal from the truama of abuse. If you still live in that violent environment, report the abuse to the proper authorities so they can get you out. I think you are a brave girl for telling your story on this website. It shows you want someone to know what is happening to you. Use that bravery and report your abuse, so you can get healing and happiness. I'm not sorry for reporting my abusers and making them pay for hurting me so badly. We're on your side, we know the kind of hell you lived through and we support you with your decisions.
