You were SO brave to tell!
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

I'm very glad you told someone, Jess. I'm even happier that the hitting stopped. You didn't, and still don't, deserve to be mistreated. If you ever again feel unsafe, make sure you tell again. And if you feel the need to talk to someone about what happened, consider contacting the people at Child Help at 1-800-4-A-CHILD (1-800-422-4453). They are staffed 24/7 with professionally trained counsellors who will listen to you.

You deserve to be loved and nurtured (and yes, disciplined when necessary) with dignity and respect, Jess. Don't ever forget that. Stay safe dear, and thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me.

To Jess:
by: Maurice

Jess, as Darlene tells you, you are ever so brave. You have done a power of good to the 1000's out there who are sadly afraid/scared to be as brave as you and tell someone. That special friend your own age is cool because you listened to her and did what she knew to be the right thing for you to do. You must be good too and not put your Mam in a position where she needs to lose her patience with you. Oh yes every child neads to be loved and sometimes need to be corrected and told that is not right bacuse. At your age Mammy has taught you right and wrong. you know yourself waht is naughty and is not. you're a big girl now. You Aunties were brave too to say it to your Mam waht she wa doingwas wrong. Your mam was very understanding and heeded them without taking it out on you. She's a good mam. But if ever she does teat you badly agin you know what to do.
