You told when you finally felt you either HAD to or when you felt you COULD tell...
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

Jamila, I'm so glad you are now in a safe place with your mother. And while I believe you have an important message to share about telling, please don't blame yourself for not telling sooner. Your fear would have prevented you from telling sooner: fear of your father; fear of not being believed; fear of the unknown. Your father had a great deal of control over you. As you matured, that control lessened as you gain some power of your own. Telling was the bravest thing you could have done, Jamila. I applaud that you found the courage to do so. Don't ever beat yourself up for the fact that you endured abuse for 8 years. Give yourself the credit you're due. After all, you "got through it".

Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me.

Jamila, you are ever so Brave, special, unique and a giver of good news to Darlene and her many visitors. The best advise you give to those who are being abused, good on you and at the lovely tender age of 16. you are a true example of telling someone. I certainly wish I was as brave and as young as you to have the courage you've had to tell someone I was being abused. So your story is a God send to all children/teenagers/adolecents. Thank You Jamila.
