You are a rescuer to someone who desperately needs rescuing...
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

Gabrielle, I'm so glad you did tell about what your mother had done to you, and that as a result you were kept safe from the violence. Your experience has put you in a uniquely knowing position with regard to your nephew. Be vigilant in telling what is happening with regard to him; his life may hang in the balance. You said you "called the law"...I suggest you contact Child Protective Services or the equivalent in your area. Sometimes the authorities fail to report child abuse to the appropriate agency, and as a result the child falls through the cracks. Your nephew has a rescuer in you, Gabrielle; a rescuer that you didn't have growing up, enduring terrible abuse at the hands of your mother. That tells me you've turned pain into power...good on you, Gabrielle. The world needs more people like you, who are not willing to just stand idly by and allow a child to be abused.

Thank you for sharing your story and that of your nephew's with my visitors and me. I wish you both all the best.

God Bless You
by: Linda Settles

God Bless You Garrielle for taking action to save your nephew. The writer of the Book of James tell us that "Pure religion and undefiled is to rescue windows and orphans in their distress." I think we can generalize that statement to include the emotionally abandoned and abused.

What you have done took a lot of courage--something that it seems you have a lot of. I commend you, and more importantly, I will pray, as you have asked us to, and know that we are praying the will of God--interceding for you, your family and this precious child.

Love,
Linda Settles

God Bless You!
by: Linda

I think you are a very brave woman and I wish I had an aunt like you when I was a baby. God will bless you for protecting this little boy from his abusive father. And please don't ever regret your decision for telling the authorities because his father could seriously hurt him. He isn't man enough to pick on someone his own size. I'm sorry your mother abused you so badly and I hope you are out of that situation now. I will pray for you and your little nephew and may good things come to the both of you...........
