You are being so hard on yourself. Rather than see that you were a child, a little child, mimicking what your abusive parents were doing, you have chosen to judge yourself through the eyes of an adult. But you weren't an adult, Emily. You were a vulnerable, impressionable child. One who was ignored by the system. Adults clearly would have known something was wrong when they observed violent behaviour in one so young, but they choose to turn a blind eye to the cause. The next time you're around children, take a good look at how small and innocent they are. Look, really look at a child of 6 or 7 or even 10. Would you condemn that child to the life sentence of shame, blame and despise for an act s/he committed? Chances are, no, you wouldn't. So why would you do that to your Self as a little kid. You didn't really know any better or you really understand, Emily. But as you matured and reached the various ages and stages in your life where you did understand, you made different decisions. The little girl in you needs you to embrace her. To love her. Unconditionally. Only you can do that for her, Emily. I send you love, light and healing energy. Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me.
