Very real and honest...
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

David, I do hope that writing this has started the healing process for you. You certainly deserve that. And just for the record, you have nothing to be ashamed of for crying; you've earned those tears ten-thousand-fold.

There are a couple of books written by Bryon Katie that might interest and help you: her first, Loving What Is, Four Questions That Can Change Your Life and her book that came out in 2007 (with Stephen Mitchell), A Thousand Names For Joy, Living in Harmony with the Way Things Are.

Thank you, David, for sharing so much of yourself.

Kindred spirits
by: Linda

David, I wish there was something I could say to ease your pain. I know where your coming from. My father sat back and watched my mother beat and demean us too. He was an alcoholic and didn't feel anything most of the time. You have come a long way in your healing by writing your story on this website. Your mom didn't deserve to have you for a son. You appear to have a whole lot of love in your heart for your children. Stay focused on your present life and have faith. God helped me through mine. Good luck to you, David, I have you in my heart as my kindred spirit and thank you for telling your story. I don't feel so alone in my healing anymore.............~Linda~

Understanding
by: Anonymous

I admire you for sharing your story. That will definetely contribute to your healing. God helped me in my healing too. Once you learn to forgive you will be free. I know you don't think they deserve your forgiveness.. you know they don't.. but you don't deserve to leave in chains because of what someone else did to you. It's in you to make that decision. And trust me .. it's so worth it.

I can feel your pain..
by: Nikki

David I can feel your pain.. there is always Going to be reprocussions of those beatings... and I'm sorry that you went through that. And Im sorry that the women in your family were immune but you weren't.there may also be something Gina is keeping from you, that maybe she was abused too.
But that is not your cross to bear. I feel your pain and what was done to you was wrong, and I am glad to see you able to vent that fustration and i hope it helps.
From one guy to another,
Nikki
