The ultimate in betrayal...
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

Brittany, your mother should have believed you, and then she should have acted to protected you. YOU are more important than her boyfriend.

If you are still living in this house with this man, you are at risk for further abuse. Please tell someone you trust, the parent of a friend, someone at school, perhaps a teacher or a counsellor. I also urge you to contact Child Help at 1-800-4-A-CHILD (1-800-422-4453) in order to talk to someone. They are staffed 24/7 with professionally trained counsellors who will listen to you. They are not a reporting agency, although they can help you through the process of reporting if you decide to disclose the abuse. If you don't get help for yourself, the emotional residue will manifest in other areas of your life, if they haven't already. Lack of trust in males and problems with intimacy are two such signs that are very common when girls are molested. And that is only the beginning. As you get older and experience more of life, other issues will crop up. You're worth the call, Brittany.
