You should see him. It's never too late to salvage a friendship. I've been in your place before and the guilt will go away when you see him. He might hate you or forgive you, but at least you'll know. Chances are he'll forgive you if you are sincere.
I'm sure he'd love to see a familiar face again and it would show him that you DID care and still do. Go for it :)
