The child abuse effects on Mimmy has spilled into adulthood as she deals with feelings of betrayal and marriage problems.

Child Abuse Story From Mimmy:

I was 10 years of age. We were at a bbq that day at my uncle's, and my sister and I pleaded with our parents to stay at his house for that night with all the other kids. How exciting it was going to be. When we all decided to go to bed that night there was no room in the lounge room for me. My uncle and his girlfriend insisted I sleep with them in their bed, so I did.

Later that night I woke to my uncle touching me in the wrong places and he was making my hands touch him. I had ended up in the middle of him and his girlfriend in the bed. His girlfriend was still sleeping. I knew this was wrong so I kept pulling my hand away. I got up and went to the bathroom. He followed.

"Stop touching me," I yelled. I was crying and scared.

"Ok. I'm sorry," he said. "Don't tell anyone. Just come back to bed."

So I went back to bed and pretended it was all a dream.

There are still bits of what he said to me in my head that I can't remember.

Here I am today at 22 years of age. It is now effecting my marriage, for which I am now seeking guidance.

The sad thing was, my parents never wanted to believe it, so my dad never confronted his brother about it. That really hurts to this day.
