Child Abuse Story From Justin:

My life was pretty normal, until my father died when I was 4. I was left to live alone with my mother and two older brothers. My mother was never home, and we never really knew where she was, but she was rarely home.

My two older brothers Mark and Josh, who were 5 and 9 years older than me, starting taking advantage of being home alone with me. Mark would tell me to do something, and when I refused, he'd come after me and hit me until I agreed to do it. They would beat me up if I did anything that they didn't like. I wasn't allowed to look at them, and if I did, I was smacked across the face. Josh would constantly whip me with thin sticks, and Mark would just resort to beating me up.

I remember one time when I was 11, Mark was 20, and Josh was 16, Mark told me to wash the dishes, and when I told him I already did, he drew back and actually knocked me to the floor with a punch to the face. He kicked me a couple times before he roughly picked me up off the floor, walked over to the storage closet, and threw me in. I ended up breaking my wrist, and I had to wait until Mark was gone before I snuck out and ran to my friend’s house down the street. I told him I fell off my bike and I needed to go to the hospital. His parents took me.

When I got home that night, my brothers both saw my cast. I saw no guilt in their faces.

When I was 13, Mark moved out. Our mother had disappeared. We had no idea where she was. Josh was 17, and he was rarely home, but when he was, he was usually drunk. I ended up moving in with my best friend Alex and his sister when I was 14.

Now I'm 26, and I have moved to California. I'm married, and have two little girls. My brothers are still back in Maine, and we haven't spoken in 12 years.
