Child Abuse Story From Jessica3:

My name is Jessica. I am now 13 and in the 5th grade, I was a victim of child neglect. Not by a family member, though. I was in a 6-to-6 program [before and after school care], and at my school, Wednesdays were always half days, which means I had 6-to-6 even longer. I hated it. They made us sit for hours on a carpet doing nothing. If even one kid talked, we started our time all over again.

I started walking to my grandma's house and skipping 6-to-6 because it was so horrible. I came to 6-to-6 one day and was threatened to get kicked out because I was skipping so much, so I had to start going again. This program was understaffed, and did not pay attention to the children.

[One day] I went in after school (of course it was on a Wednesday) and sat down on the carpet for Attendance check. Two kids were standing above me, messing around.  Since they were understaffed and didnt pay attention, they didnt know they were playing around. One of the kids pushed the other one and he fell on me. That day, I broke my arm. I had been having fractures since I was seven, but this had to be the worst. I was dizzy, uncoordinated and could not feel my arm. I was freaking out. The office staff didnt know what to do, and when they should have called an ambulance, they called my mother at work to have her come get me. She got so scared because she asked if I was ok, and they said no. She thought I had died or something! It took her nearly an hour to get to my school from her work. I had such a hard time getting into her car, and then it hurt so bad driving to the hospital with all the holes in the road. When we got there, I was so dizzy they put me in a wheelchair and sent me right in the room. We took emergency X-rays and it looked awful. My upper and lower arm was completely seperated. They told me I would have to have surgery. My mom almost fainted and the nurses had to take her out of the room.

After that, I dont remember much. My mom said I had woken up after my surgery, but I dont remember that at all. I woke up at about 4 in the morning and called my mom.

My purpose for telling this story is so that you will always make sure your children are in a safe place, so please check it out before you let your child in a strangers care.
