Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me. Your mother was—IS—twisted in her thinking. She neglected you in just about every way. I applaud the fact that you've chosen not to repeat the cycle; Congratulations! And keep up the good work. Not just as a mother, but in the way you're choosing to make something of your life.

You astound me. Such huge strides you've made, I don't even know you & I'm proud of you.

Good for you ending the abuse cycle, and good for you taking control of your life.

I suppose the past will pop up at times & hurt, but if you learn coping mechanisms through counseling...well, you've already proven you can do anything! :)

Remember, we make our own luck - your son is very lucky to have you.

you are amazing!!!

Dear Tara,

You are an amazing young woman with strength that people twice your age could only dream of having! You never ever deserved to endure anything that you did and I pray that one day you will find a sense of peace in your life. Things will not be easy for you but you have shown that you have the strength to overcome whatever is placed in your way. Continue with school and be very proud of yourself, your son will one day grow up and be very proud of you too. All the best to you both!

You can turn your luck around

Tara,
You are a very strong person and it took more than courage to realize they are better people out there. I understand what it is like to have neglectful parents or caregivers in your life. It takes quite a bit of wherewithal to overcome the lack of love in your life-and it great to hear you realize you were not stuck-and you found the power to make a better life for you and your son. I am so happy you learned early that you don't have to be like your mother. You are very lucky, because many don't realize this until later. I'm positive your son will never wonder if his mother loves him or not. And that seemingly little thing is so important!

And I don't know if you know this, but your name means earth, strength, courage-and you've got it! We have the same name. It seems that both of our neglectful mothers didn't realize what gift they bestowed on us!
