Miss L:

You have a wonderful brother in D-- (name doctored in order to ensure privacy and that you remain anonymous). And don't EVER believe that you could have protected your brother that night. At 5 years old you were completely helpless and powerless to do anything. And if you had tried, your brother would not only have had to protect him Self, but you too, and that could have meant that he would have been hurt and harmed that much worse. D-- is a hero. He protected you knowing full well that you couldn't protect your Self. So you must start looking at things differently so that you can rid your Self of the guilt. You have NO guilt to carry. The person with the guilt, and shame for that matter, is your deeply disturbed and alcoholic father. He was the one with all the power, Miss L; and he misused that power. D-- saw that, and he took steps to bring you all to safety. And now you're in a happy and healthy home, which is what each of you deserve. I can only hope that your father got the help he needed and that your brother does too. I also hope you have a chance to talk to someone about how you're feeling about all this so that you realize that you have no blame to share. All you have is love to share, and that you do, Miss L, that you do. I send you love, light and healing energy, dear one. Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me.
