I understand your anger and hostility, and you're inability to forgive your mother. I learned a very long time ago that allowing myself to feel the pain and the emotions attached to that pain, really feel them fully, resulted in those emotions letting go of me. When that happened, everything changed. Forgiveness fell into place. Not that what happened was okay or what my own mother did was okay; it wasn't okay and never would be. But what happened was that forgiveness allowed ME to move forward without having to live with never-ending anger and hostility. That's what I want for you. You see, forgiveness is for YOU, not the person who either enabled abuse or abused you directly. I strongly urge you to seek out some form of counseling in order to help you in that regard, Miss E. And thank goodness for your father. He's a hero in all this, but so are you for telling him. Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me.
