You didn't say how old you are now. In case you are unaware, last year, Virginia extended the statute of limitations on reporting child sexual abuse, assuming the abuse you described happened in Virginia. But whether or not the statute of limitations has expired, justice may never be served in the way you'd like it to be. Reporting historical child abuse can be very cathartic, but if it's done because justice is the top priority, it's a recipe for additional victimization. That's why it's so important for the survivor to have a support system in place. I'm not saying don't report it; I'm saying that healing and recovery is so important before one goes the legal route. You've gotten help for your Self, which is the most important thing of all. You can now turn pain into power, something you've begun to do just by posting your story here. And yes, perhaps that also means going the legal route. That's up to you and the system in place. I send you love, light and healing energy, Maggie.
