You have such a CARING sister!
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

Kathy, your mother was deeply troubled. She was not there for you or your sister either physically or emotionally. Her neglect cost you your innocence at the hands of that molester of an "uncle", and a further assault practically right under her nose. Your mother chose to stay in denial over what happened to you, her precious little girl, during a time when you needed her the most. I can only imagine the emotional turmoil, the feelings of abandonment and betrayal that you must have gone through over this. And while I can certainly appreciate that you wake up the morning after a nightmare from the haunting this has left you with, I am concerned that you yourself may be in a form of denial over the effects the sexual abuse really had on you.

Yes, you ARE strong; VERY strong. But needing help and asking for it doesn't imply weakness; indeed, the exact opposite is true: It requires a great deal of strength. I therefore hope you will consider some form of counselling to help you deal with the criminal acts that were committed against you by your "uncle", your cousin, and your mother.

I wish you and your sister all the best, Kathy. About your sister...I see her as one of your rescuers, even if she herself was too young to be able to change anything for you or her. And just for the record, she has NO blame whatsoever in what happened to you when you were on that couch. The blame lies squarely on the shoulders of that sex offender. I hope she too is getting some form of counselling. You BOTH deserve it.

Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me.
