I moved the above story from the comments section of another story to this page. What your parents did to you is very disturbing, and even years ago would have been considered abuse. Clearly, your mother knew better, yet she did nothing to stop it. Thankfully, your wife was able to recognize the abuse for what is was, and ensured you understood this as well. And you stopped the cycle, which is so important. I hope you'll consider some form of healing modality in order to help you deal with the effects of what you endured. You didn't deserve to be abused. You certainly deserve help for the fact that you were. I send you love, light and healing energy, John. Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me.

Normal
by: Annette

John, I read your events and I knew that getting beaten was all part of growing up. I was beaten four to five times a day. It was normal. My mother, grandmother, grandfather, uncles. They all beat me everyday for one reason or another. I grew up thinking that it was normal. Every child is beaten like that. When I had my children, I could not even raise my voice to them. I had to give them time-outs but I could not stand to be away from them that long so I would go in and talk to them. I told them that the behavior was not acceptable. I do not believe in hitting a child for any reason. I may have gone overboard but my children grew up to be very spoiled and happy.
