Child-on-child sexual abuse is under-reported, in part because often times the victim does not realize s/he has been abused, but also because of societal biases about such forms of abuse. What's important in any type of abusive situation are the effects the victim is left with. I'm so glad you are in counselling to help you through the repercussions of what you have dealt with, and what you are dealing with. Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me.

I guess what we as children accept as being innocent does have it's effects as being abuse
by: Maurice

Cynthia G you sure open up a very real issue of child on child abuse. Yes it is under reported. In modern day terms underage sex opens out the whole dilema for children and early teens. I am certain many have sex now that will have it's effects in later life: I believe underage sex should be tagged as abuse warning off the innocence attached to it by those freely participating in it. Again the percent of children and early teens effected by such action is small but growing. The majority of early teens are most respespecting of each other and value each others dignity in maturing and growing in their sexual knowledge of their bodies. Great you are getting counselling because you were effected in what happened to you. Darlene has given you words of reason and support: Heed her: You'll be fine. Have a healthy mind in a healthy body. become active and alive with your own age group in sporting and cultural activities Natural interacting with people your own age will give you a positive and healthy outlook of your body. Look in the mirror, love and admire the beautiful me looking out at you. be gentle and kind to your body. cuddle and hug love into yourself. I can, i will, I must just because I am worth it.

From Darlene: With all due respect, Maurice, I am compelled to clear up your above mentioned point here so that other visitors are not confused: Child-on-child sexual abuse and underage sex are two completely different issues. Grouping them together does not take into account the victimization factor. Whatever your position is on teenage sex, there is a consensual component involved, where with child-on-child sexual abuse consent cannot be given. This is a very complex issue, one that cannot be adequately addressed within the confines of this space. Suffice to say that the overwhelming majority of sexually assaultive children have themselves been sexually abused, which adds another child abuse element to the picture.
