How courageous of you to tell when you did! I'm delighted that the pedophile was charged and convicted. And even though he didn't get charged on your count, the fact is he was stopped in his tracks because you told. You made such a difference in the lives of all of his victims, past, present and future. When you didn't tell it was because the abuser took advantage of your youth and your vulnerabilities. He had all the power, and he misused that power in a way that had you believing you were protecting your family. That's what abusers do. Don't blame your Self for decisions you made as a child, especially as compared to what you did as a tiny little girl. The life you were forced to live was so much more complex than that. To judge your Self based on what you did and didn't do as a child is to attach mature adult values to those choices, choices that were extremely limited. So please stop blaming your Self.

I do have to say that your mother has deep seeded issues, issues that continually put her children at risk. Her choices kept putting her children in harms way. I'm happy to hear you've been through therapy. Sometimes additional issues come up after therapy is over, so if that's the case with you, don't hesitate to reach out for more. You didn't deserve to be abused. You deserved to be treated with dignity and respect and love. Thank you for sharing your story and your all-important message with my visitors and me. I send you love, light and healing energy.
